In case of emergency: ICE
I know, I know... I have not been blogging lately. I am sorry. I thought that a way to come back to blogging would be with something interesting to share, with a different purpose other than showing a nice picture and/or entertaining story. Today I received an email from a coleague which kept me thinking for the rest of the day. IN CASE OF EMERGENCY: ICE!In Case of Emergency (ICE)
Due to the recent bombing in London and floods in Mumbai, there has been a tremendous push to launch the International "In Case of Emergency" (ICE) campaign. Many people were injured in these incidents and many of those injured were found with their mobile phones. First responders used the injured person's mobile phone to try and locate a family member that they could notify on the injured persons behalf. However the rescuers found it difficult to locate the appropriate person. Wireless subscribers are now being asked by Public Safety Officials all over the world to store the word "ICE" in their wireless phone address book and put their next of kin's phone number next to it. In the event of an emergency, this person would be contacted quickly by ambulance and hospital staff. (Source: BBC News) So, if you feel like contributing to this, and you think it is a good idea, take 2 minutes and set the ICE in your mobile.
Violeta, The Giraffe
PLAIN CUTE. Period!

Some time ago, I was invited (aka dragged) to visit the Singaporean ZOO. After being in South Africa and seeing all the animals in the wild, I decided i will not contribute to organizations that would keep animals in captivity and charge human beings to go and look at them. It is a concept that does not appeal to me at all.
However I found out this Zoo has a research centre for the animals and they cool stuff for them, so I went. yeah yeah yeah.
I saw many animals, and there were two things that I was impressed by:
- the roar of the lions. GEEZ! I would NOT like to be close to one of those kittens when hungry. NO NO NO
- the elegance and grace of the giraffes. AMAZING how tall and how gracefully they move.
I have just received a gift, and it is a GIRAFFE. Although the person that gave it to me says it looks like me, I decided it is a girl and her name is VIOLETA.
Everyone, Meet Violeta, my new teddy pet in my desk... she is sitting on the screen of the computer. Looking at me.

(Random posting, I know… but what did you expect on FRIDAY!? HELLO!!!!??)
JUMP...JUMP...JUMP...
JUMPOLOGY, a theory I have just discovered in this book a friend of mine gave me as a present. (It is a crazy agenda that suggests you everyday a different fun, crazy and/or exciting thing to do) Today: ASK EVERYONE YOU MEET TO JUMP.
JUMPOLOGY: "When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping and the mask falls so the real person appears" JUMPOLOGY by Philippe Helsman. Even flickr has a section dedicated to this sort of pictures. Nice eh?.I will start taking more pictures of people jumping. I promise a nice collage in the future. Will it be true you capture the esence of people by doing so?. Intriguing... I know. INTRIGUING! Speaking of picture promises, TWO unfulfilled promises:- VEGA: your collage with the FEMALE ASIAN BEAUTIES- AIBEK: your collage of the ASIAN POSE (trade mark, of course)Still waiting :)
Imagine if...
...announcements like that were possible.
Sad, but this weekend sort of felt a bit like this to me!Anyway, have a great week people!
