Aiiyoooo ... do i really have to teach you lessons for the game of soccer! i guess so!! it always depends on the source of the paper who was the best bla, bla, bla ... yes agree the played attrative soccer, but this doesn't mean that they were the best ... sometimes luck and desire wins the games! that's part of the game! that the reason soccer is so emotional!! Blame fortuna, also can :P but look at the history of the game!what counts at the end is the score. if you look for score for attractiveness watch ice-skating!! bottom line whoever wins the world cup derserved to win! don't cry and wait your turn, maybe next time 2010!! maybe not :P Parkie
Parkie, as much as I appreciate and enjoy your comments in my blog, I think with this one you just demonstreated you ARE German.
Read this, tatoo it in your brain: in countries such as Argentina and Brazil SOCCER is innate to our people. Pretty much everyone plays good soccer, all teams every SAt and SUN delight millions with their skills. Terefore, the difference is in how elegant, attractive the play is. Flirting with the ball; enticing the crowd with an original and elegant game.
Of course I know you cannot understand this... But it is OK. I could say that if you want to enjoy real good soccer you will have to tune on some Argentine or Brazilian TV channel, can?!
Parkie is complete right!!! In our newspaper you will read that the German Team played one of the most attractive soccer and the FIFA decided that Portugal played the most amusing soccer and the French,....
If your people love the ball...yes, they can marry it! And probably that is the reason why e.g. Brazil was not very successful during this world cup...they loved to play with the ball and forgot to score goals or pass it to other players.
We in germany have very emotional soccer....many, many people go to the matches and you will see fast and effective (maybe a word which you do not know in South America) football!
Let me put it in these words: Where were the last four teams at the world cup from??? ....you can choose if it was always luck, speed, power, attitude or effectiveness ;-)
Well, well, well. What do we have here? German blindness backed up by more German blindness.
It is OK, my blog does not discriminate under any basis (call it house policy). Not even those who freely insult a whole continent at once. As your German newspapers, you can publish anything you want in this blog and on this topic, even though might not be true. Allow the readers to make their own conclusions.
I would only say, based on my experience: - when I say ARGENTINA, people automatically say 3 things: FOOTBALL, MARADONA and BEEF - when I say GERMANY… eeeerrrmmmm… well, in fact I do not say GERMANY that often, but I am sure they do not say FOOTBALL. Do they, sunshine?
By the way, not proud about it, but I think the Argentine guy who punched the German dude quite EFFECTIVELY taught him a lesson. I am sure that “pretzel lover” will now think twice before mocking South American people for having lost at soccer match right after the match.
Argentina: Tango, hot blood, beef Germany: Beer, Perfectionism and Football (hmmm...look at the statistics: how often did argentina win the worldcup or reached the semi-finals?)
hmmmm...the guy who punched our guy - i would say: hot blood!!! ;-)
What a about a steak tonight???? I would love to go to a steak house!
Andi, Andi... my Germanic friend.. since you are NOT Argentine you are not totally qualify to make such a statement. I based my comment in my experience being Argentine and having travelled many countries so far.
When I say I am from Argentina people always say things to start a chit-chat. Those things include: Maradona, as you mentioned (who is a soccer player, best in this century selected by FIFA... I believe you know this organization, right?); beef; Evita Peron; tango; Patagonia; Buenos Aires; pretty women; etc.
However the most common ones are SOCCER; MARADONNA & BEEF. Tango could come ater, but not as popular as the other three.
Germany won the cup more times, that does not mean you are better at it. It means you were LUCKIER... as in this last Cup. Well, not COMPLETELY lucky, as you did not get it this time. Let's wait until teh next one and we can see again.
BEEF tonight? RIGHT ON! Let's go to some Brazilian resto...
Argentina is Maradonna, best soccer and beef. I was in buenos aires and they play in the street better soccer than any other country i visited. Argentina WAS the best team for me in this WSC. Andi, if you are for germany the things that people know about your country internationally are beer, hitler and more beer. Mike.
